Flere og flere pæretræer begyndte at vokse i haverne og frugtplantagerne i vores land, deres delikate aroma og behagelige smag tiltrækker så at sige alle aldre "fra ung til gammel." I slutningen af 1700 -tallet blev Williams -pæren opdrættet i England, den blev officielt introduceret til vores land i slutningen af 40'erne og har været elsket af vores gartnere i mere end et årti. Store udbytter, behagelig smag, let pleje, denne skønhed vil glæde både erfarne og ikke så meget.
Williams pæresort er opdelt i tre underarter: Red Williams Pear, Williams Pear Duchesse og Curé (henholdsvis Red, Williams Summer og Winter Pear)

Kronen på Williams pæretræ er pyramideformet, dens højde når 2,5 meter. Grenene er stærke, tykke og tætte, modstår let en rig høst, bryder ikke eller falder. Blomstringens varighed 2 uger, blomster er hvid-creme farve, blomsterstande på 6-8 stykker. Den første høst er for 4 års vækst, derefter bærer de frugt årligt.
Williams pærer er store, deres vægt når 250 gram. I processen med at modnes og vokse på et grønt træ, efter at de er blevet fjernet, får de den velkendte gule farve med små pletter, lyserøde sider kan ofte ses. Williams pæres kød er sødt og ret fast. Pæretræer af denne sort bringer fra 80 til 120 g frugt.

Williams pærer, hvis jeg må sige det, har en svag immunitet mod sygdomme og skadedyr.
De vigtigste sygdomme i Williams pære sort:
- Sårskorpe-leder til fald af blomster og blade, er en svampesygdom.
- Cytosporose - påvirker enhver del af træet.
- Rust - påvirker hovedsageligt løv.
- Frugt rådne - navnet taler for sig selv, en svampesygdom fører til rådnende frugt på træets grene.
- Rodkræft - påvirker hovedsageligt unge Williams pærefrøplanter, der ligger på rodkraven og selve rødderne.
Insekt skadedyr: kobberhoved, bladlus, galdemide, pæremide
Hjælp i kampen og forsvaret mod sygdomme: Bordeaux -væske og en opløsning af kolloidt svovl (skorpe og rust), haver og kobbersulfat (cytosporose), jodopløsning og fungicidon (frugtrot).

Williams pære vokser kun godt, hvor jorden er løs og frugtbar, området er solrigt, lukket for stærk vind. Williams pærefrøplanter plantes i en alder af to år. Brønden forberedes på to uger, 80 x 60 cm, hvor 80 er diameteren og 60 er dybden. Bunden af hullet er foret med dræning, det andet lag er fyldt med jord blandet med organisk gødning på en tredjedel af hele hullet. En frøplante placeres på den dannede høj, spreder rødderne og falder i søvn med den resterende jord ovenfra. Efter plantning vandes Williams pærefrøplante rigeligt og dækket med mulch.
Omsorg for Williams pære er ganske standard for havetræer:
- Vanding. Unge træer vandes op til fire gange om ugen, voksne op til 7 gange om sæsonen. Top dressing. Det udføres i tre faser: om foråret, før blomstring og efter høst, befrugtet med gødning, nitrogenholdig og kaliumgødning, organisk og mineralsk gødning.
- Beskæring. Udført om foråret og efteråret, danner træets krone.
